Description

I figure, hey, if Star Wars has a "Medical Frigate". Why can't Star Trek have one. And a large one at that. I must admit it's design lineage stretch back to the USS Grissom(Federation Science Vessel, Star Trek The Search For Spock... I forgot what class it was). But it's pedigree is from the Galaxy class. I'm veering towards giving it a dual Warp Core since the engineering hull is separated from the saucer and main fuselage section. More space to accommodate a second Core Reactor. Not sure what the "Orthodox Engineering Design Trekkies" will think of this. But it's just an idea I'm mildly hammering about.

I would like to point out that this large Federation vessel has no armament. No phaser arrays and torpedo launcher put in, except for probe launcher of the "bio medical" kind, and things of that nature.

The Landsteiner class comes from the Austrian Physician named Karl Landsteiner(1868-1943).

USS Leeuwenhoek comes from the Dutch Naturalist named Antoni van Leeuwenhoek(1632-1723).
